Preservation

I dry flowers using hang dry and press methods which means that your flower’s colour will slowly fade over time while the flower remains in tact.

No desiccant substances are used in my drying practice as they are not biodegradable and drying naturally is a part of how I wish to act sustainably in my business.

Natural drying can take anywhere from 3-5 weeks depending on the flower variety.

Design

You will get to pick from a handful of designs that highlight your flower varieties unique attributes.

If you have a specific style in mind you can send me inspiration photos but I will not recreate an artists design.

Handling dried flowers takes patience and a delicate hand; the design you select can slightly vary from the design you receive as flowers can change position while they are being secured.

Materials and Sizing

The standard design sizes are 11×14 or 16×20.  Designs can be either single or multi-pane.

Designs are framed using a fibreboard material (wood composite) with regular or plexiglass.

Custom design sizing and framing available upon request.

There will usually be left over flowers that are returned to you with the final piece. These can be donated back to Gentle Decay to be used in workshops.

Flowers are secured with an extra-strength glue that is proven to not crack or wear with time.

Process

You will receive your final piece after 4-6 months. This timeframe allows me to focus on preservation during growing season and design in off season.

A deposit is required to secure your space to work with me.

Flowers must be dropped off and final orders picked up at Gentle Decay’s Studio. Pick up and delivery is available upon request.

Pricing

Your investment covers preservation, design, securing, framing and packaging services.

Gentle Decay clients pay between $450-$700 on our services. A non-refundable preservation deposit is required upon booking.

Open to trades from other Artists or Artisans.
